Sweet, sweet schadenfreude

(I know it's a little petty of me, but...)

So I go to the math lounge this afternoon, with one required proof left to do on my abstract algebra problem set, which is due at 2:45. I'm struggling with it, filling the blackboards with junk, when a couple of my wacky classmates come along who haven't even started the problem set yet. They're goofing off and making a lot of noise while slowly working through the first few problems, I'm annoyed because they're distracting me and I'm hoping they'll get to the last problem quickly so we can work on it together. They tell me, oh, chill, don't worry about it, we've got an hour, we looked over the stuff last night and it can't be that hard, you can take an extension if you need to. So they dawdle and I agonize, but I can feel their tension gradually rising as they realize what they're up against.

Well, guess who solved the last problem with 10 minutes to spare? Actually, they only got to the problem around the time I solved it. One of them at least got something scrawled down; as for the other guy - the one who had told me to chill - I tried sharing the answer with him but he couldn't even understand it. He was still working on it when I left. As I was leaving, I passed the professor in the hall coming to collect.

I... feel vindicated.
