you can stand under my umbrella
Well, two and a half hours to get home from work today - a journey that usually takes a little over an hour :( These floods are officially not fun any more. Not that they really were to begin with. It took us an hour of crawling along the dual carriageway in up to an inch of standing water in places, just to leave Swindon! Plus there was a *landslide* on the motorway when we finally got there! Luckily it was on the other side of the road and slightly further East than our junction, but Landslide!!!
My office is surrounded by semi-landscaped grounds, and most of them were underwater, which inched closer to the building as the day went on and the rain *kept* falling. It didn't help that most of the roof is corrugated metal so the rain sounded like it was about to cave it in! And because my company are too cheap to fix anything there are the same buckets under the same holes that were there last year! I do know that I'd be quite safe from a lightening strike there however: We got hit last week and all that happened was the lights flickered a little. There's something to be said for working in a giant Faraday cage!
At least now I've been shopping, stocked up on shortbread, coffee and chocolate pudding so I say 'Do your worst, weather!' As long as Harry Potter arrives tomorrow I am quite content to curl up in my nice warm house and not leave it til monday!
