"Dave…" Pierre said sorrowfully. Agony was clearly shown in his voice.

He moved forward toward the bed before breaking down onto his knees. Pierre stunned in silence as he saw the vision in front of him. Pierre couldn't believe his eyes. His heart ached like hell, suffocating his lungs as he found himself harder to breathe. The doctor's words from previous event still lingered in his ears.

"How is he, doc?"

The doctor took a moment before saying, "I'm sorry, we've done all the best we could…"

Right then Pierre wouldn't believe it, so he ran toward David's room without further ado. And now, he could see David, still laying on the bed just like the last time he saw him.

But this time, there was no sign of life. David was breathless. Lifeless.

"Pierre…" Patrick's voice emerged as he flopped down on the knees beside Pierre. He drew Pierre's body closer, and then giving him a comforting hug.

Patrick was also feeling like a wreck because of David's death. David was his best friend, but he knew that Pierre must have been felt even worse.

Pierre and David had been together for almost three months now, although they had a rough patch in the beginning, but they worked it out and things were getting better along the time. But now… now everything had fallen apart, leaving nothing but sorrow and pain.

Moments of silence filled the air, as both of them tried to digest the horrible reality in their own mind.

"Pat…" Pierre whimpered, finally breaking the stillness. He paused and took a deep breath for awhile before continuing his sentence.

"Could you leave me alone, please?" Pierre pleaded, letting go of Patrick's embrace.

Patrick stared in Pierre's eyes for awhile before standing up, realizing that it was a sincere request, and then left Pierre alone with David.

Pierre stood up and then walked closer toward David's body. He took David's cold hand in his, closing his eyes as more tears falling down his face. He recalled a memory from some times ago.

"I wish that you'd be heal soon so we could be like this forever…" Pierre said as he gazed deeply into David's eyes.

A loving smile crept on David's lips, as his heart fluttered hearing Pierre's wish.

"Would you promise me that, Dave?" Pierre's voice was gentle, trying to bring out optimism of David.

David inhaled some air into his lungs before answering Pierre's inquiry. He realized that the only thing that held him back with Pierre is his disease and with only one surgery to go, he could sense that everything would be all right.

"I promise, Pierre…" David uttered weak but yet firmly enough to tell Pierre that he meant what he said.

"You promised," Pierre said quietly to himself as he looked down at David's lifeless body.

A second later, Pierre walked away, and then left the room without even looking back.

Epilogue

It had been three months since David's funeral. Three painful months of mourning and sorrow for Pierre. All of his friends had been there for him, offering help or anything he might need. Even his mother, Nancy, came and accompanied him for awhile. She knew that Pierre needed someone right then. Days gone by, and Pierre seemed to cope the dreadful situation with the support from his mother and all his friends.

Little they knew that Pierre was nowhere near of coping the tragedy. Sure, Pierre had confessed his sadness, anger, and devastation to those whom concerned about him. But they didn't know that there were other things that Pierre felt toward David's death.

One of them was guilt. The feeling of remorse that had been growing bigger for each time the memories of David came into picture. David would've still been with him if the argument that morning hadn't occurred. And he couldn't stop thinking about it over and over again. But the worst part of it all was that he had no chance to say his apology. David was the one who asked for forgiveness back then, and Pierre realized along the time that he was actually the one who had been a jerk. And now, Pierre would never have the chance to say his sorry to David.

David died without giving Pierre a chance to say simple words of 'I'm sorry'. Most of all, he went away without knowing how much Pierre loved him.

So there Pierre was, standing on a quiet yet poignant place, a place where half of him had died. It was the place where he had many memories with David. His getaway.

He took a look around, noticing his surrounding. He could feel the bright sun shiny day. He could hear the sound of the birds singing on the trees. All in all, the day would be a perfect day. But then again, it didn't really matter anymore, because what mattered in his life had gone. He had lost David, his true love.

A soft breeze caressed his face, taking his mind away, entangled with all the memories he had. The reminiscences of David played over and over in his head, on a slow motion. He could see every single detail of those memories clearly. Memories of which had been haunting his nights and days, making him bound and broken.

His mind flew to the first night he brought David there. He used to think that when he asked David that night, it was because he just wanted to. But now, he realized the reason why he asked David to go there instead of Wave was because deep down, his heart had already knew that David was the one and only. The one whom Pierre shared all of his emotion with. The only person whom Pierre felt connected with. Unfortunately, this sudden recognition only brought Pierre into a more depressed mood.

Pulling a metal object out of his jacket's pocket, Pierre then brought the pistol onto the side of his head. He'd made up his mind. He had died on the inside, so it was no use to continue his now unworthy life.

"I only felt alive while you loved me, Dave…"

A second later, the trigger was pulled.

-THE END-

A/n: I'm sorry for wrapping up this crappy story with a very angsty ending :(... I've tried to write a happy ending, but I failed... well, what do you expect from an author who has very little talent in writing *sighs*... albeit that it was a crappy fic, this fic is actually the longest and the hardest that I've ever written (and most probably the last one).

Anyway, I wanna say thank you very much for those of you whom still reading this fic until the end, I always think that this fic sucks so bad, but you guys kept encouraging me to go on, so once again, please accept my deepest gratitude for all of you :)

Lastly, please leave some feedback/comments/critiques/whatever and let me know just how crap it was *nods*
