Hitting the Grindstone

Next week is week 8 of winter quarter. Egads!!!!!!! This has gone by so fast, and of course the work is piling up. I have 10-page papers due back-to-back in less than two weeks, and I have been unable to make any significant progress on either. However, I've learned several things: namely, tired brains do not focus well, Fridays are horrible days to attempt homework, and it is best to listen to the entire Haydn op 33 string quartet cycle before struggling through a detailed analysis of it for six hours. However, I'm starting to recover from this nasty virus circulating through the music department, and I hope my mind will be more disciplined. Must focus...

International Chocolate Day was celebrated on the 14th with vegan chocolate truffles, which I made from this recipe and turned out really well! It's designed to be variable in flavor, and I made the nut cream with almonds instead. I thought the truffles needed to cool in the fridge, but the they did not harden until I put them into the freezer. Naturally, they have completely disappeared.

Tonight we are going to try making black bean burgers from scratch! I love how my reaction to lots of homework is to make lots of food, especially recipes I've never tried before.

chocolate, homework, viruses
