RIP Butter

Two weeks ago, I found out I was allergic to dairy products. The transition has been complicated rather than difficult. I have been able to resist the urges to eat cheese (although any time someone mentions Cougar Gold, I get a little depressed), but it seems the only Snacks/desserts at home have butter or milk in them. Luckily, I do love to cook… which means I get to try out lots of new recipes! The next complication of course is deciding whether to find/create a dairy free recipe or just substitute in products. I'm trying not to feel overwhelmed.

Godairyfree.org has been a really great resource. Also, I'm amazed at how many blogs on the Internet cover very free recipes. People are extremely creative- there are even recipes for dairy free Nutella!

The most important thing is that eliminating dairy from my diet has caused my random nerve pain to reduce nearly 100%! Now perhaps it will be much easier for my fascia to calm down and make a comeback for violin.

Today's dairy free experimentations: apricot-almond biscotti and strawberry-balsamic vinegar sorbet.
