"All you have to do to see how wrong you are is to look at the growth of the economy and the growth of personal wealth in America. Home ownership is at an all-time high, including minority home ownership. Unemployment is at 4.8%. Interest rates remain low and inflation is at an acceptable level. All of these things benefit regular everyday people."

The problem I'm having with this is, home repossesions are ALSO at an all time high (people are borrowing more and able to pay back less, in programs banks used to NOT be able to offer), Americans are saving less than ever before (and have little to show for it), and far too many of the "new jobs" are low wage, temporary and part-time. Many people with degrees are in low-wage jobs because of outsourcing. What I DO see is that for a PORTION of the population, in the upper brackets, life is good and they are doing better than ever..
the "regular everyday people" are struggling..

Second, the line "And, the Democrats would certainly work to undo the progress we’ve made along the battle lines of abortion and homosexual issues. The Republicans have for the most part been reliable in this regard." disregards the fact that 72% of the American population are more flexible on the abortion issue than the 17% who want it outlawed. It also disregards the fact that most Americans, while not supporting gay MARRIAGE, DO support equal civil RIGHTS for gays.

It might surprise you to know that there are a number of people who HAVE had abortions and a number of gays who vote republican- so you speak only for a minority group within the Republican party. Unfortunately, the Republican POLITICIANS seem to be catering to that vocal minority and it could cost them, long term

Only a handful of Americans want abortion completely outlawed. I for one believe that a woman should certainly have the right to an abortion if the pregnancy is a threat to her health.

However, taking an innocent life should not be a "career decision" or done for economic reasons. Life begins at the very instant of conception, and that life deserves the same respect as mine or yours.

Here's something to consider -
Within the next few years we'll see medical technology advance to the point that a pregnancy can be aborted at virtually any stage without a threat to the life or health of the child. At that point, will the pro-abortion types finally turn honest and demand that women should have the right to KILL their unborn children?

It's a point worth pondering.

Secondly, Civil Rights for Gays....let me remind you of all the civil rights that we have...civil rights are freedom of speech, press, assembly, the right to vote, freedom from involuntary servitude, and the right to equality in public places. These are "Civil Rights" that we all share, there are no "Straight Rights","White Rights", or even "Black Rights". Yes sometimes there are injustices in certain cases, but I will not apologize for them. We are all "Profilers" to one degree or another. We do it for our own reasons whatever they may be. To put it in present day terms, if I was asked by you if I was "gay", I would know a couple of things...

1. For some reason you have tried to categorize me as being "gay".
2. For some reason that has brought that question foward, whether it be from curiosity, excitemnet, I don't know.
3. I could go as far as being offend by this, Call up the ACLU and have a discriminatory lawsuit placed againest if I was offended by your comment. Remember the ACLU, the group that only support frivilious lawsuits.
