“What’s a home?” Asked the baby pug.

“A home is…,” I tried to explain, “Well, a home is like…It’s where…” Then I realized, “A home is like the Tao, baby pug. I can’t quite describe it, but you’ll know it when you find it. It will just feel right. Oh, and there’s lots of cheese there.”

“Oh, I see,” said the baby pug, his little curly tail wagging just a bit. “Well then, I would like very much to find this place called home. Cheese is my favorite.”

“Well, baby pug, I happen to be looking for the right thing to do, so I’d like to help you find a home, too. May I call you Homer?”

“Oh yes, I’d like to be named after a place where there’s lots of cheese,” said the baby pug.

For a moment I thought about calling him “Wisconsin,” but decided Homer was a more suitable name for a pug.

“Come, then, Homer, follow me,” I said, “Let’s find you a home.”
