It didn't take Ned long at all to head out the compound after Olive told him of her and Chuck's discussion - rather, their conversation that happened to revolve around secrets and the telling of them. Two such secrets were plenty, but it was the third that had Ned almost on the run once he heard it. He couldn't stand the thought of Chuck alone for any amount of time after having heard that her mother had not died in childbirth, but was, in fact, her aunt Lily.
That she'd been lied to her entire life.
Ned's thoughts and feelings generally ran toward the pessimistic, and he could see nothing good about the news for Chuck. It was just how his mind worked.
And right now, the pie maker's mind was entirely set on Charlotte Charles as he hurried along past the apple trees, her beloved bees, along the garden and toward the orchard, hoping she hadn't gone anywhere he couldn't find her.
