Title: …And She Giggled
Fandom: Pushing Daisies
Pairing: Ned/Chuck
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Chuck figures out Ned dreamed about her. Set the morning after “Bitches.”
Disclaimer: I only own these characters in my thoroughly romantic, yet twisted imagination

Usually Ned loved watching Chuck’s eyes open just as the morning light shone through their bedroom window. But today he was waiting for her to wake up so they could talk about something bothering him.

“Good morning,” she said, rubbing her eyes.

“Good morning.” Taking a quick breath, Ned tried hard-maybe too hard -to sound matter -of-fact. “Ah, Chuck, I think it would be safer if you got out on the other side of your bed from now on. I mean, we shouldn’t be taking any chances…”

She looked over at him. No, ‘look’ wasn’t the right word. She stared in a teasing way that meant she wouldn’t stop staring until he told her everything. And why did it always work?

“…’Cause I had this dream where you tripped on Digby and fell on top of, um, me,” he finished half heartedly, feeling the temperature of his face rising.

“And I died?’ Her eyebrows arched higher and her chin dropped.

“Ah, no, but that’s not the point-“

“So what happened if I didn’t die?”

How was he going to get out of this? He sat up in his bed and tried to not look at her, but then she also sat up and how could he not peek at her in her nightgown? Damn, was he grinning? He shouldn’t have looked. Her face lit up in that exuberant, Chuck-like way she had.

“Ooo, did you have a sexy dream about me?”

Part of him wanted to tell her the truth: “When don’t I have sexy dreams about you?” Instead, he knew his deepening blush probably gave him away, even as he fell back on the bed and pulled the covers over his head.

And she giggled.
