Even though I'm done with school, I'm not done with school...
Let me explain...
My plan is attend grad school...Specifically, my intention is to attend NYU - Steinhardt to get a Master's Degree in Composition for Film and Media...
However, I found out a couple weeks ago that the deadline for application is January 6th...
And here are the requirements for applications:
* Completion of online application
* 3 or 4 transcriptions of concert compositions
* Film score transcription separetely
* 2 to 3 demos of concert compositions
* 2 letters of recommendation
* 3 page essay of intent
* resume
* college transcripts
It's a lot of shit I need to prepare and not a lot of time to do it...But, hell, you only live once...I decided to go for it...

Want to know what I did on Xmas Day?
I did the following:
* Updated pdfs of compositions
* Wrote a 3 page essay of my intent for a Master's Degree and why I deserve to be in the program
* Updated my musician resume
* Completed the Online Application for NYU, and sent out my resume and essay along with it
* Sent out electronic notices for Profs. Geers and Lubet to write me letters of recommendation
----------------------------------------
This week, I will do the following:
* Monday (today), I will record a classical guitar composition and have OBI violinist Colleen record the viola 12-tone piece I wrote a few weeks ago...We will be recording at the studio of Corey Benson, who also has recorded the Dregs...Also, get together with Todd Wardrope and edit together my film score sound file with the film - from that, we'll create an .mov file (or something comparable)...
* Tuesday, print out three or four compositions and also the film score (all 85 pages of it.)
* Wednesday, I return to Corey's studio to record
queenvalkyrie, singing a German lied that I composed last year for Theory class, accompanied by a pianist I found through
atysmee's help...
* Create CDs with all demos, organize all scores, collect college transcripts and create a portfolio folder of my work...
My plan is that on the morning of January 6th (one day after I arrive in NYC) I meet with the director of the Film and Media Composition Dept. and talk with him about the program...Then later that day, I will hand in my portfolio in person to the Graduate Admissions Office at NYU - Steinhardt...
And that's the plan, Stan...Wish me luck, kids...
