Sounds like a great bunch of classes, really, and an awesome project.
And you're studying with two of my favorite profs (Alex and Dean)! Say "hi" for me sometime, if you think of it. It's been a while since I worked there, but since I was there for 5 years I can only hope they remember me.

Post tonal ear training is a beeeeyotch. That's the one I had at 8am. Why do they do that? I can't imagine it's any more fun to teach at that hour. At least you get it over with first! The atonal clusters do get easier to identify after a while.

Glad to hear you're able to scale back the project. The 12 minutes of orchestration alone would be a big project for a single semester, especially when you haven't had any training in it yet. (To compare, my final project for my final semester of orchestration class was one reading of maybe 2-3 minutes of a full orchestra score, for something I didn't compose. Trust me, it was a big project.) Doing film analysis, composition, orchestration, making parts, running rehearsals and coordinating a performance all in ~3 months while dealing with a full course load and prepping for graduation is pretty crazy. Not that you wouldn't have found a way, but, you have a much better chance of staying sane, now. :)

I can't wait to hear your film score project when it's done. I have some things of my own lately to play for you as well. ^_^ (Yay, MIDI files!!)
