I Can See A Little Light...

Re: composing a chamber music piece... should be a good project. Depending on what you want to use for instrumentation, you're ahead of the game because of experience on guitar and string instruments (I always found them really hard to write for because I don't have a good understanding of how fingerings or things like double and triple stops work in practice.)

Have you taken any orchestration classes?

No, I haven't had a chance to take orchestration and probably won't before I graduate...which is okay, since I figure I can get that training in grad school...

So, with the orchestration of the project, I'll be looking for feedback from Alex...and also from the instrumentalists I'm working with...Going to the Composer Seminars last year helped IMMENSELY, though, so between what I learned there and my work as a producer, I may be okay...My only real challenge that I can see will be trying to decide on "tonal color" and "texture"...

I DO know that my piece will contain french horn and percussion...and I know exactly what I want for the first measure...everything else, such as other instruments or the rest of the piece, is pretty much up in the air...
