Fic: "The Emptiness of Full Boxes", CI, PG

May 07, 2007 17:15

Quick fic: this was orginally conceived as a fic for atlashrugged's birthday, but I never really found the right thread for it, sadly. Until today, when watching Oprah sometimes brings on the weirdest plot bunnies.

TITLE: The Emptiness of Full Boxes
FANDOM: Law and Order: Criminal Intent
RATING: PG
DISCLAIMER: Dick Wolf's, yo.

Alex doesn't spend much time at home. )

ALL RIGHT FINE HAVE A COMMENT.

I liked this fic. Especially the list of things in Alex's head and the external stuff like Oprah.

How many people haven't had quite mini life crises in front of a glowing teevee?

And after they wake up there is dorky dancing, yes, yes? ? ??? ?? ??? ???

WELL DUH. And they go out for ice cream and put on Spice Girls albums because that's how you get over a crisis like this, no?

When he remembers he has a key, she's already half-way through her tea, and she feels how much her eyes sting from the rubbing and the tears. He's standing in the doorway, his face broken in half like the last cookie in the jar, and he knows she's been a widow for ten years now and it's only now, finally, hitting home that she's alone and faceless and nothing.

God, I want to make out with that paragraph. The line about his face was just
ouch, which I actually said aloud. Ouch. His face doesn't hide anything well.

I wish I watched Oprah or at least knew who Nate Berkus was, but I've got some boxes myself. Parts of this fic were like an open wound and sometimes you read my mind, fic-wise. Happy Birthday, indeed.

Oh, I'm so glad you liked it. I stressed and freaked and cried but I just couldn't find the voice for this at the time, and who would have thunk it would come from Oprah?

Happy Birthday. Even though it's late, late, late...

I don't think you could ever write anything I wouldn't like. You shouldn't have gotten stressed out over it. Didn't you have a million other things going on at the time? You kept making those not dead posts. Speaking of frustration with written things, I woke up for some reason at five and knew perfectly well how my post-Blind Spot story is going to end. It should be easy now.

Are you going to start writing fic for CI Français? I am ahemming (?) that at the moment, which I'm sure will be fun to watch seeing as I hardly know the language.

It's funny how you just have something click and BAM, you can finish a story. And it's about time you finished it!

I'm getting French Plot Bunnies. I've got the two windows open: one has a RPF with the French visiting the set in it, the other BMEZine.com's blog. I don't know which is more disturbing.

I hope it AHEMs quickly. Then we can hardly understand it together!

This was kind of sad, but I really, really_ loved the ending with Bobby!
