“Mark,” he says gently. Mark turns back to the lock. The key won’t fit. Stupid, stupid, stupid. “Don’t talk to me,” he says to Eduardo who touches his shoulder again and then the top of his head. “But I gave you that bike,” Eduardo says, laughing a little. Why is he laughing? When you’re in high school everything feel like the end of the world ^^ I laughed too, but at Eduardo; buying someone a bike doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dump your girlfriend and start dating the guy you really like! Just a general life-lesson..
“Yeah, but, come on, man. Christmas or Hannukah? I know it’s hard to choose sometimes but you don’t have to! Not anymore, no! Let me introduce you to something I’d like to call Chrismukkah.” Chrismukkaaaah! *loves you* I’m so glad you included this! I love the concept of Chrismukkah and I’m a Buddhist XD
Mark sits down next to him and feels strangely serene even though he doesn’t know why. Maybe it’s the sugar cookie. Things I’ve Learned From You Regarding Food & Drinks; - Soy milk makes the future seem brighter and appearantly -Sugar cookies make you feel serene ^^ I have much left to learn, master. *bows*
“I broke up with her,” he says finally, then shrugs his shoulders helplessly, all shy and sheepish. “For you,” he says. *falls backwards, arms thrown upwards victoriously* Finally! Some sense in the boy!
“Wait,” he says, and then puts his surfboard on the floor, before going to kiss Mark again, a wet, open-mouthed kiss that tastes salty like the sea and makes Mark’s knees buckle underneath him. “Merry Christmas,” Eduardo says when he pulls away, grinning. “It’s Chrismukkah,” Mark tells him. *laughs* Mark, do shut up and kiss the man ^^
“You’re in Newport now, Chino.” He squeezes Mark gently and Mark slumps against Eduardo’s arm, tilting his head towards his shoulder. “Yeah,” he says, watching the sun peek out above the water. “I guess I am.” Boom, perfect ending!
This story had me at hello, not like I’m surprised; it’s another showcase of your immense talent. You continue to impress me with your skill, your wit and your creativity, and I can only hope to write something half as accomplished as this. Well done, as always.
