The Cat who thinks I hate him

Nov 21, 2007 13:41

Poor Lyra. Yet another 8am trip to the Vet's office, with him telling me how rotten I am at the top of his lungs. From the floor of the car. And the reception counter. And especially when I tried to hand him over. The assistant had to help get him detached. Poor kitty.

So, he's getting his "sugar" tested all day again today. Last time they upped his insulin from one unit twice a day to two units twice a day. He's been on this schedule for two weeks now, and he seems fine, but he is SUCH a pee factory still, I'm thinking they're going to up it to three units. We'll see. In the mean time, Thalia is wandering around the house on full alert, convinced that Lyra is just hiding out waiting to pounce on her as she walks by. It's pretty funny.

That's the lovely and cuddlesome Ms Thalia, looking her prim cutest. Right now, she's lying on my desk, purring and clenching every time she thinks I'm looking at her. Yes, she is VERY jealous of the time I spend with the rats, but she gets her individual time too. And I find that falling asleep is much easier with a purring bit of warm fur snuggled up close to my hip.

On the ratty front, Recon is starting to open up and bond. Finally. He's now quite comfortable with taking food from my hand (which he wouldn't do before), and today while I was playing the "lets stick our head in the cage and use the rat pile as a pillow" game, he climbed up onto my shoulder and bruxed. It's SUCH a relief when a rat gets comfy enough with you to just climb on board.
