The Caffeine Diaries

I hope everyone had a lovely Thursday, or a lovely Valentines Day, if you choose to recognize it. Teo and I have never really done Valentines stuff, though we're into eating dinner together that night (we usually do, but extra effort and/or specialness on that day). Last year, it was the day we were packing to go to West Virginia to go skiing with his parents and then on to Washington DC, where he proposed to me. I can't remember why I took off work (I think it had snowed and I was taking a half-day anyway), but I do remember waking up that morning and finding a single red rose in a bud vase on my counter waiting for me and thinking it was the nicest thing. Teo tends to view purchasing cut flowers as a waste of money, so it was very special that he'd done something like that to surprise me. Tonight, after a filling and delicious dinner at Mad Mex, we got home and he'd gotten a whole vase-ful of flowers to sit on my counter. They smell so pretty and were such a surprise!

However, by Teo going home to do that after his day in the field for work, instead of heading into his office (he got back at 4:30ish), he missed the surprise that I'd set up for him on his desk. When we watch "Monk" sometimes he comments offhandedly that he'd like a Monk bobblehead for his desk at work, since he sort of relates to the character, though not to such an extreme degree. (He can't work in messes, he always wants to peel stickers off of things and straighten picture frames and organize and file compulsively.) So I conspired with rissykay99 to order one on her card, so Teo wouldn't see the charge, and I'd pay her back next weekend. I'm excited for him to find it on his desk (and the card I designed and printed up at work), though I'm just now realizing I did not take the price tag off the back. Scheiss!

Anyway, I had a nice Valentines Day, but now I'm looking forward to all of that chocolate going on sale this weekend!
