i am in rome, in an internet cafe, with a machine that ate 2 of my euros when i was trying to pay. the homesickness has subsided so far. i havent met many people since i got here the day before yesterday. i am staying in a huge hostel which makes it difficult to meet people. no one looks you in the eye there, whereas in a small hostel, people have no choice but to interact.
preston may meet up with me in prague. this is a big maybe, and he has certainly been known to back out at the last minute in the past. really, it hinges on if he can swing it with his money situation.
i am burning through money quickly. i need to control my spending, call home a little less, and start making use of the communal kitchen at the hostels.
rome is nice and all, but i hate having to keep such a close eye on my bag. in a week, my trip will be half over. i am leaving for florence the day after tomorrow.
