Drabble challenge

Feb 18, 2009 02:50

Challenge:
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn your music player on and turn it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble/ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it’s over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.

Fandom: Skins
Pairing: Emily/Naomi
Rating: Up to R.
Words: Approx 1,520.
Spoilers: none really. 3x01 extended preview but really most of them are just things that would happen in every day life and there's no real timeline.
A/N: Some of these are unfinished because the song ended. :(
If there are spelling mistakes i apologise.

This is fun! You should all do it.

1. What If you - Joshua Radin

Naomi pondered often whilst sitting in College with Emily sitting only a few metres away. Pondering if her lips were soft, if her nose crinkled when she smiled after she pulled away from kissing her, and if this was the right, correct, accurate sentiment she should be feeling for the redhead sitting across from her. She was confused by these feelings. She didn’t know what it properly meant. On the outside she was strong, tough, and able to handle anything that came at her. She didn’t give a fuck. Yet, she cared what Emily thought, what she felt, how she felt, for her. Though she’d never say these things out loud.

2. Yesterdays Feelings - The Used

Emily had feelings, obviously. But these feelings weren’t completely honest in her mind. She lusted almost openly for Naomi. She was strong and outspoken and loud which complimented her shy behaviour. But what Emily was most drawn to was Naomi’s ability to draw Emily out of herself. To make her feel good with one small smile at a comment she made on Katie’s skanky outfit, or a laugh at something outrageous Pandora said two minutes before. Her feelings had lasted more than a year now and day-by-day they became yesterday’s feelings until Emily leant into Naomi and miraculously Naomi kissed her back.

3. Video Killed the Radio Star

“Fuck! I love this song!” Naomi was high as a kite and raised herself from the couch, air-guitaring before pulling a giggling Emily up next to her before cooing ‘oh ohohohohohoh” in her ear and continuing twirling the both of them.
Effy laughed at them the whiskey bottle hanging loosely from her fingers.
Naomi spun around several times, singing loudly yet surprisingly holding the song. She grabbed the redhead and placed her hand on her waist and took her other hand in hers and began waltzing until they made their way into the kitchen, where Emily took the advantage and brushed their lips together and pushing Naomi back against the bench.

4. The Guilty Ones - Spring Awakening.

Emily new she was gay the moment she set eyes on Naomi when she was 14. Though, she’d deny it to herself until she understood these bizarre feelings. She would dream of Naomi for months on end; Her lips, her hands softly linking with hers, and undoing her with her mouth.
It wasn’t anything like her dreams when Naomi made love to her the night they were completely sober. Hands, lips fingers all combined to make something even more sensual then Emily could dream of.

She realised, she wasn’t guilty of these feeling any longer, if Naomi had them too.

5. Love Has A Diameter - Biffy Clyro

There was only so much Naomi could take from Emily’s crush on her. It wasn’t that she found it bad or annoying (okay maybe a little) but there’s such a thing as space. And space was what Naomi needed to process what the fuck these feelings where she was beginning to have for the auburn girl. These annoying butterflies in her stomach when she was invited places by the girl, the way she made an effort to see her, unlike anyone else ever did, and the way she began finding it endearing when the girl genuinely laughed at her jokes or fiddled with her hands when she was out of exciting anecdotes to tell her of.

6. Tarantula - Pendulum (okay so this is one of the songs that does things to me so that’s why hits one is oddly sexual. It’s the bass in the song that does it.)

Emily drifted through the door of Naomi’s home, it was empty, Naomi’s mother was out for whatever reason and the house smelt of cigarettes and perfume. Naomi followed in after her closing the door. Emily could only register Naomi’s hands on her waist undoing her skirt as the blonde’s lips collided hastily with her own.
“Fuck, are you seriously going to do me in the hallway?” Emily breathed out, soundly surprisingly confident before moaning loudly as Naomi’s hands were just everywhere at once and her tongue was on her throat, dragging down before dipping between her breasts where her v-neck top began.
“come, now” Naomi dragged her onto the couch in the front room, and Emily muttered “I probably could” before straddling Naomi and undoing her vest, whilst the fair headed girl’s hands slid up her thighs.
Emily was lightheaded, her mind was rushing and she was throbbing all over. She kissed Naomi brutally before Naomi took full force and flipped them, moving her way down the girl’s body.
“Fuck I love you,” Naomi breathed. She stopped. Emily stilled beneath her. “-Your body. I love your body…” Naomi looked awkward and small after accidentally letting out a proper emotion. Emily grinned, “I love your body too.”

7. (OH PERFECT) If You Were Gay - Avenue Q.

“You know its okay that you’re gay right?” Naomi looked at her, the silent bus surrounding them, making Emily incredibly nervous and making it seem that everyone was listening. “What?” Emily had a brash tone as she replied to Naomi “I’m not gay. Why would you say that?”

“You still want to kiss me, right?” Naomi stated, her blue eyes staring.

“Well, yeah but that’s different.”

“Not really, but I’m not gay so,”

“So.” Emily looked out at the passing houses.

“But I’m pretty sure Angela’s ga-“

“Can we drop it? I’m not making out with Angela.”

“Your loss. She’s fit.”

“You’re not gay. You have no say in it.”

Naomi smirked and turned towards the window, “you’re not gay either though.”

“Shut up.” Emily smiled and pushed her lightly.

8. Caring Is Creepy - The Shins

“Caring isn’t creepy, right, Katie?”

“What?” Katie was close to the mirror, mascara colouring her lashes jet black, whilst Emily was in the reflection sitting on the basin bench.

“When you care for someone too much, it’s not weird, right?”

“Emily, do you like some guy? I’ll talk to him if you want.”

“No, Katie, I don’t like ‘some guy’ it’s not always about boys, you know.” Emily sighed, “I’m just worried about someone. I invite them to all our outings and I just wish I could do something that she liked for once, she always seems to have a horrible time hanging with us.”

“She?” Katie turned around. “You’re the one who keeps inviting the lesbian?”

“Naomi, Katie. Give her a chance she’s nice enough.”

“Honestly, Ems, Effy’s the one who you should be hanging around with. She’s brill.”

“Yeah, well Naomi needs some friends and even if you’re not happy to hang around her, I am, so deal with it.” Emily marched out of the shared bathroom and slammed the door, satisfied when she heard Katie cry out as she smudged the mascara in her eye.

9. Warning Sign - Coldplay

Emily should have known about Naomi’s past, her issues and her ability to hide things so well no one ever suspected she was the littlest bit scared shitless of the world around her. It was a warning sign when Emily met Naomi’s mother for the first time. Her harsh words were said at Naomi, rather then to her. And she left with a wave of the hand and a door slamming loudly.

Emily should have noticed when Naomi turned up in the freezing rain, sodden and shivering that something was wrong. Yet, Emily only noticed Naomi’s soft smile that drifted on her lips when the door opened. Emily only thought of her how tightly she wrapped herself around the other girl that night. Apparently the blonde’s heat was turned off.

Emily figured out too late. She figured out the hard way, when she heard muffled sobbing coming from Naomi’s bathroom one night after she slept over. She walked in without warning and found the blonde in the shower, naked and vulnerable and without anyone to care for her. Emily stepped under the now-cold water and turned the shower off before wrapping a towel around her and sitting in the bath, holding the shaking girl in her arms and whispered, “it’s okay, I’m here.” Before kissing some of her tears away.

10. Sky - Joshua Radin

“Hey,” Naomi lay herself down next to Emily on the grass. The park they lay in was virtually empty and made it easier for Emily to quietly lace her fingers through the blonde without turning to speak to her. The sky above them had been cloudless and glorious the past few days but today the clouds where pearl white and Emily adored watching them drift past her as she lay, silently, making shapes or animals or objects in her mind.
“That one’s a dragon. See it’s tail?” Naomi pointed towards the cloud. Emily beamed at the other girl, surprised she knew where to find her on such a day and the fact that Naomi was never this quiet or adorable in her findings.
They lay there for a few more moments before Emily turned and pecked Naomi on the mouth and walking towards the large oak tree, a small, childish skip in her step. Naomi followed.
