Home sweet home

God, it feels good to be back.

Funny how much I felt like a 15-year old while visiting my family, and all it took to suddenly become a grownup again was to enter the automatic doors of the airport.

Rob's in Denver, and while I'm sad he couldn't pick me up, it felt good to do all this on my own:

I checked in, got on a plane, flew into National (direct, yay!), got the porter to snag my heavy bag from the carousel for me, hopped on the Metro, transferred lines, sat in a seat given up by another pregnant woman "you're farther along than I am" and not the woman next to her (harumph, lady), started up a lovely conversation with this person and made a friend-- she's an environmental lawyer who often travels to Africa for work, is looking for a house to buy, is 6 months along, and is just so darn awesome that we exchanged numbers. Yay for randomly-met new friends! Other woman left the seat, and new friend sat back down and we chatted until her stop. Then I got off at my stop, caught a cab home, explored the nifty rearrangements Rob's done, and put together the car seat. Whew.

Oh, yeah, and put my cat into my consignment store-purchase maya wrap, just for fun. :)

It's just funny how *poof* I'm a grownup again, and it feels so very good to get back into my shoes. I wonder how it will be when my mom comes to visit in a couple of months...

friends, travel, reflection
