Word Count: 210
Rating: PG
Summary: Shikamaru always let her make the first move.

Shikamaru always let her make the first move.

The way she played that first piece gave him a pretty clear idea of how she was going to play it the rest of the game. She gave herself away in that one move, laying out his plans for him. She probably could have done the same to him, if he chose to make the first move. He did not.

But Temari never wasted time on frivolous things like subtlety. She seized what she wanted without asking and if you didn't like it, well tough shit for you. Anything was hers to take. That's why he could always tell what her aim was when she made that first move. She went after what she wanted right when she wanted it, wasting no time with silly things like hesitation. She was too good for that. No, Temari's intentions were very clear from the start when she took what she wanted; be it your heart or your chess pieces.

So when she grabbed him by the wrist as they were walking down main street, pinned him to the other side of a nearby tree and took his lips forcefully in hers he smiled the slightest bit.

Shikamaru always let her make the first move.
