Awesome idea! :D

Question: If the short form is WITHIN a larger form like a tv show or a movie would that be okay? Like if in a tv show a group of characters were watching commercial or short film or something, would it be okay to do that? I hope that makes sense!

I'm gonna say no. That seems more like a scene to us but mostly because we don't know the context. Were you thinking of something in particular?

Not the OP, but...

The thing I thought of when I read the question was something like the Fruity Oaty Bars commercial from Serenity. So it's a short something within the 'verse of the larger work? If that makes sense.

I would say the Fruity Oaty Bars commercial would be okay if it was the full commercial rather than the scene from Serenity with the commercial.

Or perhaps the Robin Sparkles videos from How I Met Your Mother, just without the gangs reactions and stuff, just the video itself, maybe.

Robin Sparkles' music videos from How I Met Your Mother-they're separate music videos but they're related to the show so I just want to make sure!

As long as they're the videos and not any part of them reacting to the videos, it's fine.

Since you see the entire commercial in the show itself, I would say that's a bit of a stretch. Not to mention that the visual style of the commercial is not very different from the visual style of the show. But if you think it fits...
