TOP 5 LEVERAGE CONS
Spoilers for Season 3's 'The Rashomon Job'

5. THE RASHOMON JOB

THE CON: Steal the Dagger of Akowabi
THE CATCH: It was already stolen. By Sophie. And Eliot. And Hardison. And Parker. Seperately. Five years ago. Sophie posed as a Duchess donating her art to the Boston Art Gallery, while simultaneously posing as a geeky art curator in the same gallery. She slipped the art minister of Zimbabwe a shrimp concoction to give him an allergic reaction, and then used the commotion surrounding his attack and subsequent rescue by a cute doctor to slip downstairs, change costumes, and re-label the dagger's next destination to her own private art collection. However, it never arrived. Eliot was at the same benefit, posing as the doctor who was eventually forced to help the sick man. He used the treatment as a ruse to get downstairs and steal the dagger out of Sophie's shipping boxes. However, it wasn't there. Hardison showed up to the same benefit and faked his way in by posing as - you guessed it - the art minister of Zimbabwe. While he was faking an allergic reaction for his own distraction purposes, his firewall was tearing down the museum's security. Eliot took him downstairs for treatment, Hardison re-routed the dagger's destination to the vault, and went to retrieve it. However, it had already been stolen. By Parker, who was posing as a waitress (the same one who delivered Sophie's shrimp champagne to Hardison). Parker slipped through the vents, stole the dagger from the vault, and then up and dropped it trying to escape.

So, who really stole the dagger?

Nate, who was there as himself as an insurance investigator for IYS. He uncovered the museum curator's plan to get rich by pretending works from his collection had been stolen. He caught the dagger as it fell off Parker's belt and through the shafts.

THE OUTCOME: All five went back to steal it. Again. Together.

4. THE MILE HIGH JOB

THE CON: Steal proof that a corrupt company had knowingly deposited a fatal chemical into public drinking water.
THE CATCH: The proof is on a plane containing a hired assassin, a bomb, and a hundred innocent passengers. The crew initially believes they're looking for blackmail money or assets, only to discover the actual source is a woman who works for the company. Hardison (back in LA) has to infiltrate the company, find evidence of the company's misconduct, and then remotely fly the plane when the smart bomb disables the plane's navigation computers.
THE OUTCOME: The plane lands safely on a bridge, with the woman's promise to testify at the trial of the company.

3. THE BANK SHOT JOB

THE CON: Long-con a jackass business man out of a fortune he attained terrorizing a small town in Arizona.
THE CATCH: While entering a local bank to cash in Nate's fake "deal" with the man, the bank is taken hostage by two men. The businessman tries blackmailing the armed men while Nate and Sophie - trapped inside - communicate with Hardison, Eliot, and Paker on the outside. Together, they find out that the armed men are father and son, and are only robbing the bank to pay a ransom set by a group of drug dealers who had kidnapped the older man's wife. Nate steals the businessman's case of money, gets it out to Parker (posing as an FBI agent with Hardison), and uses it to lure the drug deals to Eliot - you know, so he can beat them to a pulp? The businessman realizes the dupe too soon and, in a commotion, Nate gets shot. The businessman then takes over the hostages and uses them as leverage to get his money back.Their cover blown, Hardison devises a quick plan to get Nate and Sophie out of there and the man arrested.
THE OUTCOME: The wife is fine, the man goes to jail, and Nate gets a patch-up from Eliot's not-so-delicate suture techniques.

2. THE TWO LIVE CREW JOB

THE CON: Steal back a painting that was purchased on the black market.
THE CATCH: The painting gets stolen by another crew, first. A bomb is sent to Sophie, who then fakes her death to bring out the true perpetrator - her old grifting partner is in town for a bigger con, and had used their original painting lift to work out the kinks in his team. Only, he didn't send the bomb - one of his crew did. The teams go head to head; Nate's team trying to stop the other from stealing another painting by conning the team themselves. Each member meets their match, but the best one (and I'm going geeky here) is that WIL WHEATON is the other team's Hardison. You know, that geeky kid from Star Trek: The Next Generation? Evii!Wil Wheaton on The Big Bang Theory? HUHYEAH. Anyway, both teams end up at the same gallery on the same night, and Nate and Sophie reveal to Sophie's old partner that his hacker (Wil Wheaton) had sent the bomb to Sophie - and that another one was waiting in his car. They save him from dying by a geek's hand.
THE OUTCOME: Both paintings remain safe, the first returned to its rightful owners. Eliot and his super hot female countpart bang and talk about handcuffs. Oh, and Nate and Sophie almost kiss while staring at one of her alter ego's gravesite.

1. THE FIRST DAVID JOB/THE SECOND DAVID JOB

THE CON: Take down Nate's old employer, Blackwell, by stealing his most prized possession - one of two David maquettes.
THE CATCH: Six years ago, Nate's son died because of Blackwell - he wouldn't give Nate the insurance he needed to buy the treatment to save his son's life. The con goes smoothly until Nate's ex-wife, Maggie, appears, and the team realizes that, instead of casing the place for a future break-in, they have to steal the David now. They make it out by the skin of their teeth. However, they discover that they can con Blackwell out of even more money by re-selling him his own David - by telling him it's the second David. Shit goes down when they're caught in the act by Sterling, Nate's old partner. Each is arrested. Sophie reveals she's had the second David the whole time. The team has no choice but to escape and part ways to save themselves. Three months later, they run in to each other while each cases the gallery once more. The lure of the unfinished con brings them all back together, and the team pulls off a heist of a different sort - they don't steal the Davids, they steal every other painting Blackwell owns.
THE OUTCOME: Blackwell is fired, the Davids remain safe, and Nate and Maggie make peace with their son's death. The team once again parts ways.
