Top 10 Fiercest Ladies on Television
spoilers for all of the above television shows
10. Rose Tyler
Rose Tyler is a fierce bitch. She absorbed the Time Vortex. She scattered the words through time and space. She looked into the TARDIS and the TARDIS looked into her. She sent Donna Noble back. She has a giant-ass gun. She will kick your ass.
9. Juliet Burke
Originally Juliet Burke was much higher on my list, but she slowly slipped up in the numbers because she wasn’t around the final season of Lost and my emotional attachment to her decreased as I saw her less on screen. That being said, she’s fucking fierce as hell. She’s a doctor, a scientist, a researcher, an Other, the big spoon in her relationship, and a handy lady with a gun. One time she set off a nuclear bomb with a rock. It was awesome.
8. Martha Jones
I love doctors, can you tell? Martha Jones is brilliant. She saved the world one time. Then she did it again. She entered the TARDIS and knew immediately that it was bigger on the inside. She works for UNIT. She holds the osterhogen key. She got out when no one else could. She took an empty broken shell of a time lord and turned him into himself again. She has the doctor on speed dial. Fuck yeah.
7. Kate Austen
Yes, it’s true, I love Kate Austen. Shocking, I know. Most people are like EW KATE AUSTEN but I’m like one time Kate Austen punched me in the face. It was awesome. The truth is, I started watching Lost during season 4 and I was just like HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS KATE CHICK SHE IS FUCKING FIERCE WATCH HER KICK SOME JUNGLE ASS and then I went to the fandom and everyone else was like UGH KATE HER FACE IS LIKE A FISH (???? Idgi either, as I’m sure you can tell, Evangeline Lilly’s face is perfect, stunning, and flawless) but anyway, yes. Kate Austen speaks to me on a spiritual level. I love everything she does. I love the way her brain works. I love how much she cares about EVERYTHING and about everyone. I love the way she brings out the best in people just by being around them because she makes people want to be better because she is awesome.
6. Faith Lehane
Oh Faith, I love Faith. I think her arc, her fall and eventual redemption, is one of the most fascinating that Joss ever created. I love her as a character, I feel like I understand her, and thus it makes it much easier to empathize with her. When Joss doesn’t insist on listening to his fans and giving into their demands *cough**cough* he is really very excellent at creating believable characters with fantastic character arcs. I especially love her relationship to Buffy and what Buffy represents to her, hope and despair and the goodness that Faith wants to ignore inside of her and all these other beautiful cheesy things.
5. Joan Holloway
Joan Holloway rules the office with a pen on a chain and an iron brassiere. Inappropriate metaphor? Probably. But actually. There’s a reason why one of the caps is just her ass. Not to objectify her, but sometimes her body is treated as an entirely extra character. Anyway, for obvious reasons, Joan Holloway is a fierce fucking bitch.
4. Kara Thrace
It’s somewhat shocking to me how high up Kara Thrace is on this list, she’s the fiercest of the fierce, she gets shit done, but much like Juliet Burke, my emotional attachment to her over time is wavering. I still love her a lot. Fierce bitch. Get's shit done. There is no one else like her. Look at that face. Look at how perfect stunning and flawless it is. Look at her. She fucks up all the time and she knows it but she's so determined to keep fighting, keep fighting until she can't fight anymore, and she thinks it's because she doesn't know anything else she can do, but that's not it at all. She fights because it's the right thing to do. She fights for reasons that only Lee Adama can say outloud because she's Kara Thrace and she doesn't do that shit. Only she does. Perfect, stunning, and flawless.
3. Britta Perry
Who doesn’t watch community? If the answer is you, that’s some shit you should change right now. Funniest show on television. Hands down. The fact that it didn’t get nominated for any emmy’s is a fucking crime. Number one reason to love that show though? Britta Motherfucking Perry. Fierce ex-anarchist feminist bitch who just wants to learn. She has douche-ray vision from a lifetime of experience, but those are good people in there.
2. Peggy Olson
This one time I was watching Mad Men and I was like holy fucking shit when did Peggy Olson become my favorite character? Well somewhere between writing fucking brilliant advertising campaigns, smoking marijuana, having hot meaningless sex with random men (but only if they have a condom), turning down fierce lesbians because her boyfriend is currently renting her vagina, earning the title “Smuggest Bitch in the World” by beating a chauvenist asshole at his own nudist game, and being the one person Don Draper respects, Peggy Olson because my favorite character in Mad Men. I just have a huge emotional attachment to this girl. She almost could be number one if it wasn’t for…
1. Buffy Summers
Because really, who am I but a giant Buffy Summers fangirl? I could leave it at just that, but let’s just recap for a second. She died saving the world. Twice. She knows the plural of apocalypse but really, you have to when you live in Sunnydale. She was the only slayer until she wasn’t but that never made her stop working so fucking hard. Look at her. Look at that face. She’s just. So perfect. Cannot even handle.
