MY TOP TEN PRETTIEST EPISODES OF BUFFY
ummm, spoilers for buffy. i'm guessing people have caught up by now.
(10) 5.17 FOREVER
(?) This was such a sombre and touching episode, straight after the masterpiece that was The Body - it really delivered aesthetically with a subdued tone throughout. The scenes at the graveyard in the evening are just beautiful.
(09) 7.01 LESSONS
(?) Eee, this episode! I love it, it feels like a fresh start - the sets, the cast, the costumes, the colours - everything just seemed so much more vibrant and pretty. The shots of Giles and Willow in the english countryside are my favourites, but I also loved Dawn's swishy hair (haha, shallow, i know) and the new high school.
(08) 5.19 TOUGH LOVE
(?) This episode is gorgeous. There are so many soft and warm colours throughout, it's really consistent and complimentary to the theme of love. It's a high emotion piece but has a really light and airy feel.
(07) 2.13 SURPRISE
(?) I felt that I had to include some pre-Season 4 episodes, though I admit it was hard purely because of the quality of production - 90s television wasn't aesthetically the greatest! But this episode is special, I feel. The Buffy/Angel scene at the end is one of the most intimately shot scenes of the whole series, it is beautiful.
(06) 6.01 & 2 BARGAINING
(?) These two episodes were really primal and savage, full of hurt and grief and frustration. So with that we get lots of reds, earthy and fiery tones, lots of dirt and flame and blood. Put it all together and it is extremely evocative - there are so many screencaps that I just adore!
(05) 4.15 THIS YEAR'S GIRL
(?) SO PRETTY. Dream sequences, lots of Eliza Dushku and SMG action... I love it. Now we're in the top 5 these episodes need less and less explanation - the caps speak for themselves, LOOK AT THE PRETTTYYY!
(04) 5.07 FOOL FOR LOVE
(?) How can I resist an episode split between multiple periods, complete with period dress!? That last scene is bloody lovely as well, jsyk.
(03) 6.07 ONCE MORE, WITH FEELING
(?) Pure theatricality. Vibrant and brilliant colours. You can not ask for more.
(02) 7.22 CHOSEN
(?) It's the series' finale! How can I not have a soft spot for it? Although the entire episode was beautiful (especially the last line of caps!) THAT LAST FRAME COULD HAVE JUST BEEN SHOWN FOR THE HOUR AND IT WOULD STILL BE HERE AT #2. That cap is just guhhhhh ♥ glorious, happy, Buffy Summers.

(?) CRACKY AND FORESHADOWING DREAM SEQUENCES. LOTS OF SHADOWS. LOTS OF LIGHT. LOTS OF COLOUR. LOTS OF BLACK & WHITE. THIS EPISODE IS A FEAST FOR THE EYES. A FEAST!!
