10(ish) Cities(ish) That I Would Love To Visit. Possibly Again(ish).
I've wanted to go to Barcelona ever since we studied Gaudi in year 9 Art and had to design our own building. I even had wild dreams of studying there on my year abroad from uni. Then I chose to study Italian instead of Spanish, so that went out of the window. For now.
So it's not technically a city. But what can I say, the heart wants what the heart wants, and right now, the Cinque Terre is the place that I'm most obsessed with and most desperate to visit. I'm not even a big fan of walking, but I have images of walking along the coast and then taking the train back and going on a boat trip, just to get every view imaginable. Just beautiful. Look at those colours. Definitely top of my list right now.
The East has never interested me a great deal, but one place that I would die to go to is Hong Kong. The harbour, the lights, the history... I really hope that it'll inspire me to visit more places in that corner of the world.
I'm a total history geek, and Jerusalem has one of the most complicated, tragic and important stories of all time. I think this is probably one of the cities on this list that I'm least likely to go to, but a girl can hope. And pray.
For a girl from the north of England, LA is about as big as it gets. The city, the buzz, the shopping, the stars... I want to geek out over the Walk of Fame, do the cheesy, tourist trap bus tour of Hollywood homes and film studios. I want to see the Hollywood sign and put my hands in the imprints at Mann's. And then I want to go to the beach. Any beach. And fantasise about the day I make it my home.
I think Munich is the only major German city that I haven't been too, and, loving Germany as much as I do, that's just not right. I'm saving myself for Oktoberfest, but even if I don't make it to that, I still need to see as much of Germany as I can, and that naturally means Munich.
Confession: I've been to Paris before. For one day, on a school trip to France when I was about 12. We whizzed from Montmatre, to the Louvre, to the Eiffel Tower, back to the bus and then back to Rouen, and I don't remember any of it in great detail. I always smile at the last line in An Education, because I really feel like I have never been to Paris, and I want to go back there and feel everything I missed out on.
Prague seems like the ultimate fairytale city. One of my aims in life is to visit all of the old Soviet bloc cities, but I have to start with Prague. If I can get away without going to the bone church that my boyfriend is convinced I need to see. I'm not so sure.
One day I'm going to rent a car and drive down the west coast of the US. Seattle and San Francisco should have made the list, and any other month they might have done, but right now, San Diego is calling to me, and if the road trip has to wait, it has to wait, but I'm definitely heading to San Diego.
Confession #2: Yeah, I've been to Sydney before as well. But oh, it's not the same when you're there with parents and they're calling the shots and dictating every move and visit. Sydney (and Australia) seems way to chilled for frantic sight-seeing, and I'd love to go back and have more time just chilling and soaking up the atmosphere. You may have noticed a beachy-city theme running through this picspam, and I don't think any city could have a beach to beat Bondi and Manly.
