Looks like the US will get a pretty split even House and Congress. But those mail-in ballots are still getting the count. Biden leads in electoral votes as of this writing according to NBC News, 253 to trump's lowly 214. While the Blue wave wasn't what we expected it to be, but hey, win some, you lose some.
This time, most Americans finally understood that the stakes were still very high. 'Bout damn time. Anyway, while the ballots are still being counted we can probably rely on the numbers of registered Democrats who voted by mail to be an even bigger boost to the popular vote in the next few days.
Local races matter quite a bit, and this is what hurt the Democratic party a bit. But I believe now that most people know how political happenings affect their lives, they will exercise their right to vote for who they believe will represent - and work for - them. This will be better for the country in the coming years.
As for the Supreme Court, trump has wrought his revenge. But you know what? If marriage equality is stripped away, fuck it. My local MCC will still marry me and whoever I should choose to wed. I understand that the legal recognition aspect is what's at stake if the same-sex marriage decision is overturned.
But, fuck you, I'll still be married to the man I love in God's eyes. If the country doesn't recognize that we'll work and protest until the day LGBT+ peoples of all backgrounds are recognized and treated as equal. God bless our straight allies. But moreover, God bless our nation that we can use our gains for the good of all men here.
