Apparently they show reruns of the Lawrence Welk show. I'm watching one right now and I'm fascinated by the whole ridiculous thing.
The music and dance numbers are so... bloodless. I love all music, I have no trouble with barbershop quartets & polkas. But it's just so lacking in spirit, this clean. It's too clean, too safe, too white. It's like they just drained all the fun & energy to music out and left this non-threatening version of it instead. God, this is painful -- yet oddly fascinating. This is what white folks considered superior to, or classier than, rock and roll? God damn, whiteys, how full of self-delusion are you?
OK, well as long as I'm here typing this - I had a decent Christmas. Mainly it was a four-day stretch of Sundays, which was really relaxing. I hope everyone else had a badass Christmas with gifts that made you scream "HELL YEAH, MOTHERFUCKER!"
