Video Friday: R KELLY!
Yeah, I know you want to see some of these.
I was going to simply take it back to 1993 and music that reminds me of Queens. But this morning, doraphilia didn't understand a reference to one of R. Kelly's first big solo hits, "Your Body's Calling." The song that helped launch the ridiculousness that is R. Kelly (which you can google if somehow you don't know about his "colorful" existence), and the music-making machine that gave us such classics as the cringe-worthy Thoia-Thoing and the more recent auto-tuned Skin.
Note that in R. Kelly's "Your Body's Calling" you can hear two references borrowed from this song - the "Unbelievable" used on Biggie's song by that name. The other is around 3:53 - "I'm wise (?) enough to know when your body's yearning" line that was borrowed for "Dick in a Box" ("see, I'm wise enough to know when a gift needs giving" in that version).

Probably the most flagrant - or surprising at the time - was the double-entendre-filled "You Remind Me of Something".
My favorite R. Kelly song is "Ignition" (remix). Hot and fresh out the kitchen. A classic. I'm not sure why he's wearing so much Celtics gear... or why we have to stop and admire how well his hair's braided.
