gosh pico you should just learn to close tabs
(according to Google History I have been to ~300 pages today. This is what happens when you give Pico an internet and a free day.)
Highlights:
+ an art on DA (the Fox Mask Man guy meeting a friend comic) set me to looking up Noppera-bo, which sent me into a frenzy of wikisurfing various japanese yokai, demons, creature, and otehr fun thingies
++ a book of them:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwaidan:_Stories_and_Studies_of_Strange_Things++ (which book is actually readable here:
http://www.gutenberg.org/files/1210/1210-h/1210-h.htm at Project Gutenberg)
++ another book of them:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gazu_Hyakki_Yagy%C5%8D++ and a modern (albeit western) guys who draws them,
http://www.matthewmeyer.net/blog/tags/a-yokai-a-day + more on DA led me to an art that led me to a good interactive comic/story on 4chan, where I haven't been in ages, because lol, 4chan; it's a story about a goat repairwoman who gets stuck in an eldritch hotel she can't escape from.
++ the artwork that led me:
http://muura.deviantart.com/art/nanquest-362676740?q=gallery%3Amuura%2F17443&qo=4++ the comic's wiki:
http://tgchan.org/wiki/NanQuest++ Quest readable on the threads under the main wiki-pic
+ and one last set: looking up cosmetics for nmariside led me to kohl, which I trie to find pictures of on guys - some exist, but not many, and to here:
++ THIS LITTLE GIRL IS ADORABLE -
http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/India/East/Orissa/Puri/photo375052.htm++ Romans are silly:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmetics_in_Ancient_Rome#Eye_Makeup++ thank you wiki -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:History_of_cosmetics++ PS: I know they use Henna, Kohl goes because it makes sense - need to look up other specific things nmarisiders would use as makeup. Also, the things they would make up that are unhealthy and scary (belladonna dilates your pupils because your body's saying get this shit out of me, did you know?)
So, as you can see from The Internet, today is a lazy day in which I am doing nothing. Given the amount of meeting, greeting, running, climbing, training, metroing, bussing, teaching, grading, and exhausting I've been doing for the past two weeks, I think that's okay. In fact, I think I will finish reading NanQuest, and then maybe pick another webcomic to read. Or possibly finish a paper book. Or maybe something else. I don't know. We'll see. It's chill :)
last night i thoguht I was tired, but caffeine kicked in even after my classes and meetings were done, and then I stayed up til 2AM, reading old nmariside things and writing a new story. And today I slept, very nicely and naturally, until 11AM. I think it is safe to say Jet lag is in full, pleasant swing. I am going to keep my head awake all day, and then go to bed around midnight, and see waht I can do about waking up at a nice, normal time. Holidays are nice :D
PS: Hello, guys. I'm back! How are yous? :D
