Student Teaching

Feb 15, 2011 19:44

This marks my fifth week of teaching at a rural Pennsylvania school.  The teaching staff is extremely supportive and the kids are nice for the most part.  I thought I would love teaching and being a part of the school atmosphere...not so much.

Teaching is pretty much a full-time babysitting job in which you must impart your knowledge on students against their will.  There are very few students who are excited about learning.  Although high school can be monotonous and dry, students are not appreciative of what they have or are unable to see the opportunities that lie just ahead of high school.

Forcing teenagers to do what I want them to do is not my idea of a career.  I want to help people who actually WANT to be helped.  Graduate school here I come!
