So tear me open but beware // There's things inside without a care // And the dirt still stains me // So wash me until I'm clean // It grips you so hold me // It stains you, so hold me // It hates you, so hold me // It holds you, so hold me // Until it sleeps // So tell me why you've chosen me // Don't want your grip // Don't want your greed // Don't want it
Claire barely had time to flinch as Sylar's hand circled around her wrist, wrenching on her arm as he spun her back towards him and then glanced over her shoulder to watch the truck driver walk into the truck stop that they had stopped at. Sylar glared hard after the man, even after he was gone and then he looked down at Claire who was giving him an expectant look as though she had an idea of what to come.
But Claire wasn't prepared for the crushing kiss, a kiss that was so hard that she felt the plump flesh thin between her teeth, leaving indents as she struggled against him for a moment or two. She didn't like being kissed like this, it was more of a punishment than anything. Finally she got her hands between them, shoving at his chest as she tried to put some space between them but he didn't allow very much. "God, what the hell is wrong with you?"
"Do you want him to die, Claire?" The question was a cold little growl, making her blink at him.
"Die?" She blinked, confused.
"You're flirting with him." He seethed, his dark eyes showing the storm beneath the calm facade that he tried to put up at times. "You're mine, Claire. I told you that before, that I would kill other men."
She scoffed, pushing angrily at his chest, "That was if I slept with them." She shot at him and she could feel his arms tightening around her, as though he were contemplating crushing her in his embrace.
"Then maybe I'll kill you for flirting." His eyes narrowed and most people would back down, most people would balk in the face of his anger but she merely lifted her chin. She didn't care if it made her appear foolish, five years of the same game had made her genuinely fearless of the man that was holding her at the moment. She had spent five years running from him, her biological father and his henchmen. Maybe it was partially her power too but mainly she wondered if it was more that she didn't care anymore.
"I wasn't flirting." She replied, as though sulking at the accusation that she had been doing such a thing.
"You smile at him." He growled then, "You smile and you're...bright. He wants to take you from me." Sylar sneered at the truck shop, as though daring the man who had been giving them a ride for quite a few hours now.
"You're jealous." Claire blinked a little bit, stunned by the realization and his words. He was pissed off because she smiled at the other man, because she was warm and friendly with him. In ways that she wasn't really with Sylar but yet, it was his bed that she had been in for the last couple nights. She gave a laugh then, a strange little noise as there wasn't much mirth. "I can't believe it."
Now he let go of her, pushing her back a bit as though touching her was suddenly painful to him. As though she burned him. "Shut up." He glared hard at her, trying to relay threats through his steady gaze but she merely chuckled.
What a sad, twisted world.
He had told her before that she belonged to him but she hadn't thought that he would actually get pissed off if there was flirting with another man. It just hadn't clicked, it was more than a simple possession and now she was unsure of what to think or do. She stepped back again, putting more distance between the two of them as she though about bolting. Jealousy wasn't a good thing, not with the two of them. It was dangerous to themselves and to others.
She didn't really want this and yet a part of her yearned for it.
"Maybe we should separate for awhile." She offered in a slight, hesitant tone.
"No!" That seemed to piss him off further as he glanced at the truck stop and then looked at her. "Get into the truck.
"What are you going to do?" Claire frowned at him, suddenly not trusting him. Not that she ever did.
"I'm going to go get our driver." The slick smile was dangerous, hinting at something that was forming in his mind and Claire worried for the driver but she didn't fight him. She merely continued to frown as she turned to get back up into the truck, climbing over the front seat and moving to the bunk once more.
When the driver actually appeared with Sylar a moment later, she was relieved as she had thought that Sylar would kill him in the truck stop which would defintiely call attention to them all over again. She gave him a warm look before shifting back further into the bunk, curling up on her side as she laid down and tried to relax. She should have stuck to her idea of separating, she should have found someone else to give her a ride but she didn't. She had listened to him instead.
It was still on her mind when she woke up a few hours later, the truck still and quiet. Too quiet. She frowned, pushing her hands against the bed as she sat up, "Hello?" She murmured as she scooted towards the edge of the bed, peeking out into the cab of the truck. Sylar was quietly sitting in the driver's seat, wiping the driver's side window and even in the darkness she could see the stain of blood on the paper towel. "What did you do?" She gasped.
"I'll be driving from now on." He answered calmly, not looking at her.
"Where is Vince?" She asked with a frown, shifting to sit on the edge of the passenger seat as she looked at him.
"He pulled over to take a nap."
Claire looked out the dark window to see that they were pulled over into an empty little area just off the highway, probably a place where truck drivers stopped to take naps when the long drive got to be too much. There was trees and fields just beyond them, dark and shadowy with their secrets. "Where did he go?"
"He was crawling into bed with you." Sylar frowned then, curling his fingers tightly around the bloodied towel and she felt the heat as a light grew around his hand. He released the ashes then, brushing his hand against his leg, "I didn't like how he was looking at you." He looked over at her then, his eyes cold and flat. "You shouldn't have flirted with him." As though this was somehow her fault.
"You killed him?" She didn't know why it should surprise her, it almost didn't but she did stare at him silently for a moment before shaking her head. "You're..." She didn't finish the statement because suddenly she was flat against the passenger door as she had been reaching for the handle but now she was pinned, her eyes wide as she looked at him.
His eyes were glittering, he looked like was barely hanging onto the edge of his temper as he curled his fingers a little and she could feel something closing around her throat. She was sure that he was going to choke her till she passed out but just as quickly as he had pinned her, he released her. "You're mine, Claire." He said it with a slight smirk then, "Don't forget that."
Claire lifted her fingers to rub at the side of her neck as she wanted to ask him once again why he had decided that; why he had chosen her. But the more pressing question was more about why she was sticking around. It wasn't because of the sex, it wasn't that simple. It wasn't as simple as the game and the obsession that they seemed to have for each other. Maybe it was the weird understanding that they had of one another even if they could confuse the other person in the next breath.
She sighed a little bit, looking over at him once more, "Well, then we should get out of here." She pulled at the seat belt, arching a brow. "Do you know how to drive this thing?"
The smirk he gave her was amused as he started the engine and she watched as he handled the truck with an air of confidence. He shifted as he turned the wheel, pulling out of the little area and moving to merge onto the high way. She shook her head, almost amused as well because it would just figure that he could do this as well. She sighed softly, brushing some hair back from her face as she looked out at the dark night, back at the clearing, and wondered where in the field the body of the driver was. Just another person caught up in their game and destructive path.
