I heart dogs. Last night we had the bomb dog from the Reed City State Police Post come in and do some demonstrations. It is a really cute german shepard. Large teeth, but cute none the less. First we had officer rob talk about MIP's and Mike talk about SJS. Then the guy hide "bombs" all over the lobby and had the dog find them. Then he took him outside and threw his keys into the darkness. The dog actually found them. It was amazing.
Now i'm just hanging around til I work the desk at 2. Jennifer Granholm is supposed to announce if they are closing MYCF. She is not on my list of people to ever vote for again that is sure. She just wants to close the prison because Engler opened it. She has no other valid reasons to close it. Everyone that they come up with the prison can shoot down. She claims they will save 18 million dollars. That is a complete lie. First of all there is a 20 year lease on the building that the state will continue to have to pay even if the prison closes...that is 11 million right there. Secondly they still have to pay for the 500 or so inmates. So that comes to like 16 million. The 2 million difference, GEO corp agreed to pay so therefore there would be NO loss. GRR. Plus she's like well no one will lose there jobs because the state will hire them all. Well that's just grand except that that means relocating. AKA taking your kids out of school, finding a new house, getting your spouse a new job. Not to mention the devastation it's gonna cause the city of baldwin and lake county. They need that money that the prison generates.
