Book Meme - Day 4: A book that makes you sad

Mar 28, 2012 23:38

Pretty much every book series when it comes to an end.

Like, The Hunger Games had so much emotions and feels. And uhhh, when it was all over I felt so .. dissatisfied. Not necessarily sad though. That's why I'm not picking that one for an answer.

I think that would have to be

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

Okay, okay, the first part of the book is basically one big camping trip. But so many deaths ;A;
I just can't completely fathom it.
I cried because of Dobby.
I cried because of Fred.
I cried because of Remus.
I cried because of Tonks.
..
I think you catch my drift?

It was one big cry fest. Honestly.
I mean, I've read quite a few emotional books but it's different with HP. I grew up with these characters, saw them throughout the years and suddenly not only is the series over, but in the meantime a couple of lovely characters are killed off.
For the sake of the story, I completely understand it, of course. But just. Oh god.
I mean, I cried when Sirius died in Order of the Phoenix, but that was nothing in comparison to this book.
I also think I was pretty emotional the first time round because of the realisation that it would be definitely over after this one.

I also cried because of the horrible names Ginny & Harry gave their children.
By Merlin's baggy pants.
