I've always wondered where camp got the word "oobleck" from...
I was looking for a book to read aloud to my second graders from last semester who I visited today. It was Dr. Seuss's birthday aka Read Aloud Day so I was looking for an uncommon Dr. Seuss book. That's when I found Bartholomew and the Oobleck. Everything just started clicking. Oobleck the word...oobleck the goo...oobleck from Dr. Suess! I ended up choosing that book just b/c I was so amused by my revelation. I read it to the class, and I was surprised that a handful of them had actually read it before. I guess it's not as uncommon as I thought it was.
Anyways, so I thought, it'd be really nice to read the story at camp before actually making oobleck. It's like how way back during my first summer, we read Green Eggs and Ham right before actually making green eggs (and ham?). So then, I got kinda excited so I looked up "oobleck" on yahoo to see what else I could find on it (hey, in my defense, I was bored out of my mind being stuck in bed all weekend long being sick)...and I found this ridiculously amazing must-share youtube clip that you must MUST watch.
DEFINITELY an addition to "Things I Want to Do List"
