I agree. I think renting for the first year or so should be the way to go for us... But we'll see. :)

I think renting for a little while will help you decide what you can and cannot afford in the distant but somehow near future.
It'll also help in deciding what type of house you want---2 bedrm, 3bedrm? Tudor, ranch? A slab or crawl? Stuff like that.

You've lived with someone before right (that wasn't Steph)? Think it'll be any different?

Yes, I've lived with people other than Steph. In fact, I've had a grand total of 6 roommates directly and 12 indirectly. (I was on "The Real World, Kalamazoo" for a while, but it was never aired.) I know what it's like living with other people, and I basically live with Doug now, so I'm not worried about that.

I'm just worried about finances. I think renting would be smart while Doug is in school. Paying rent on a smaller place would cost less than paying a morgage. I'll be the one taking care of things while Doug is in school, and I know we won't be able to afford much right off the bat. Especially since I don't have a job right now. I've been looking, and I'll find out soon if that job with Jones pans out. And Rob's buddy never called me back - which I don't blame him - I'm not qualified at all for that kind of position. We'll figure something out though, so I'm going to try really hard not to stress about it. :)

Things'll pan out. You'll see. You'll have a job in no time at all! Think of it this way, once you find the perfect place, the perfect job will open up.

Luck has a way of working things out like that....lol.

I just hope it's the other way around... Perfect job so then I can actually afford the perfect place! :)
