A New Guest Arrives
Taking a little break from the party. My, they get a little fiesty sometimes.
The party took my mind away from the murders, thank goodness...we were having a great time. Brom and I were...well, best not speak of that. Everyone had a great time talking, free of fear.
Then we played one of my favorite games: The Pickety Witch. Everyone gets in a circle and one is in the middle. The one in the middle is the Witch. She has to catch someone outside of the circle, and kiss them. The trick is, the Witch is blindfolded. A fun game, really! The song goes:

Well, you can only guess who I was. I finally caught someone, but his facial features didn't seem familiar. I asked,
"Is it Theodore?"
"Pardon my intrusion, Miss, I am only a stranger."
I gave him a kiss anyway, "A kiss on account," I explained. I took off my blindfold and saw a rather handsome man. He was taller than me, but a bit shorter than Brom, and less muscular too. From the corner of my eye, I saw Brom didn't like him much; and I couldn't have been more right. The man asked for my father and I told him that I was his daughter, Katrina Van Tassel. Brom intruded though, and asked of his identity. The man declined to say it and started to leave, but Brom wouldn't let him go! He grabbed him by the collar and declared, "You need some manners." I felt so sorry for the poor man (he didn't look like the sort of man to tangle with Brom) so I tried to get him to let him go. Thankfully my father came in and stop it all, wishing everyone to be calm and happy. That's just like my father...he asked who the man was, and guess what??
HE was the investigator!! Sent from New York to help us!
I am very excited and am now filled with a new sense of security. He just looks a bit too serious though, but maybe the party--no, no, he must talk with Father about all this, let him have all the information he needs--________
