*His phone gets knocked off the receiver as he wakes up lazily, knocking it off with his arm, yawning loudly. There's a moment of silence, as a slow process goes through the man's head*

[Oh hey, new person on the phones. And another person from a place she's never heard of with an accent that she recognizes anyway! Ema wonders if it's coincidence.]

Welcome to Mayfield. It's disorienting when you first wake up.

Disorienting is an understatement. But thank you for the welcome miss...?

Ema Skye. And you're welcome.

Has anyone explained to you where you are and what's going on yet?

What a wonderful name. I'm Alistair.

And yes, a few people have! It's a rather strange town from what I have heard.

You really think so? Thank you.

"Strange" is putting it lightly, especially since you have no frame of reference. You're not even from the United States or anywhere I know, unless 'Ferelden' is a town or small country somewhere in Europe...?

*a long pause*

United States...?

[Yeah, he doesn't have any idea.]

That's the name of the country you're in now.

Oh I see. What a strange name for a country....

It isn't really that weird if you know the history. There are fifty states, and they're united into one country. It works.

Then that is understandable! So, I assume people from different worlds have been put here?

Reply

glowing_science July 23 2010, 19:05:01 UTC
Yeah. Most of the people I've talked to are from countries familiar to this world: the United States, Germany, Japan, Russia. Some come from places that don't even exist where I come from, like Antiva. [Ema is still ridiculously proud of herself that she remembers the name.]

None of which probably meant anything to you, I'm sure.

Antiva... I know of that place.

*he pauses again before he snaps his fingers*

You must know Zevran then!

[Cue surprise!]

Yes, I do! You know him, too?

pickedontemplar July 23 2010, 19:11:39 UTC
I do. He's a friend of mine.

I hope he hasn't caused too much trouble here.

Huh. Well, at least there's one familiar face in town. That makes the transition much easier.

He has, but not without good reason. Shameless flirt, but he's a good enough guy. I taught him some chemistry awhile back.

Taught him some... chemistry?

Is that some kind of innuendo?! You.... and he... did you?!
