There's no place...

like home.

Okay, so I realize that it has been nearly a month since I've last posted. But if you all had all the term papers and finals that I had, you would have... used this site to procrastinate. I watched a whole bunch of movies instead.

But I did manage to write the four term papers, take the finals, and pack most of my belongings into a HUGE box (and when I say HUGE I mean HUGE.) Then I packed the rest into a suitcase, helped my roommates clean and move out, and then hopped on three airplanes to get back to Guam.

Seriously. Three airplanes.

One from LaGuardia to Houston (about four hours long.)
One from Houston to Narita, Japan (about fourteen hours long.)
One from Narita to Guam (about three hours long.)

I left my college at 3:30 am and went to LaGuardia, where I sat for four hours waiting for my flight. Then in the twenty-four hours that followed, I spent one hour not in an airplane. There was half an hour in Houston between flights and half an hour in Narita.

There was supposed to be almost two hours in Narita, but they held us on the airplane for an extra hour and fifteen minutes. These people in nearly hazmat gear came on and used a thermal scanner to check each person's body temperature and collect a bunch of forms, which they went through individually. Basically, Japan is SUPER paranoid that someone will bring swine flu into their country. As a result, each plane undergoes a health inspection. It was ridiculous. By the time I got off the plane and through security, I had ten minutes to make it to my flight to Guam before the plane took off without me.

I did make it, obviously, but it was cutting it close. But, I had a row to myself, so I spread out and passed out all the way to Guam.

My family picked me up at the airport in their new pickup truck, and I came home.

I'm home for the first time since August last year.

There's no place like home.
