Awesome + Nightmare = this week

the bad thing first; My visual arts trial exam on wednesday was worse than the worst possile nightmare...

but this week has still been pretty awesome; I found a portemonnaie on friday after school, now guess what I did!
When I was at the bus stop A the visual display indicated that I still had to wait 8 minutes for the bus home which is why I decided to take a short walk to the electronic marktet at the train station. After I got the latest advertising folder (and was shocked to see that they were selling the iPod touch 20€ cheaper now .__.), I decided to head back to the bus stop thus I took the escalator down.

That's when I suddenly saw the purse lying behind a photobooth and telephone semi-boxes and started to run up that certain down escalator. Hey, I'm pretty sure that irritated some people using the escalator, but I didn't care.

I lifted up the portemonnaie and was quite surprised to see that that it was quite big, filed with lots of important stuff, such as account cards and ID card of a woman - and money. Quite a lot, about 80€ in bills and lots of coins (approximately 10€, I guess).
To my relief, there was a carte de visite of a sculptress which corresponded to the ID card's name which is why I knew that it was the owner's.
So I immeditely went straight to that telephone semi-booth, where I waited a few minutes for the man who occupied it to finish, when he told me that there was another telephone behind the pillar XD

Like usual, I didn't have any money with me, which is why I just took out a 1€ coin of the purse and dialed the mobile number on that carte de visite. Unfortunately, the mobile phone was turned off thus I reached the automatic answering service where I left a message that I had found that woman's purse and left our home's telephone number.
Since there were still 50 cents left for calling, I decided to call the the landline number number on that carte when a male voice answered. I was pretty confused for a fraction of a second, and I thought that I had dialed the wrong number, but it turned out to be that sculptress' husband. He was at first pretty perplexed when I told him I found a purse with that carte de visite and was using the phone from that train station, since his wife was still in her workshop. After having asked where I lived ("That's on the other side of the train station right?"), we decided that it was best to leave my phone number and his wife or himself would contact me later at home.

Since the bus was coming in 8 minutes, I unfortunately obviously missed it and came back home later than usually on Fridays, at 2:40 PM I reckon. So I talked to my sister via Google Talk while I was waiting for the phone call and told her about the purse.

At around 4:45, the telephone rang and the woman asked me where I lived so that she could pick up her purse and I told her our last name and address ("Oh, that's on the other side of the train station right?") so that the would know which bell to ring. Just about 20 minutes later the doorbell signalled that she had arrived and she told me that she didn't notice losing her purse at all and wouldn't have notced it till much later if she hadn't turned on her mobile phone and heard my voice message. She said that she was both surprised and touched that I immediately left a message which made me very feel kind of honoured. So I handed her the purse and she asked me whether it was alright to look into it ("Why, of course"). She was even happier that everything was still inside since she told me it's normal that people just take out the money and throw the purses away later.
She asked me whether she could do something for me, and decided to give me finder's reward which I thankfully received since it it almost Christmas.
Than she emphasized that she was so glad and asked me why I reacted so fast, I answered:

"If one loses their purse, they'd be be extremely if someone called them and said; 'Don't worry, I found your purse', right?"
"Did this happen to you?"(referring to losing a purse) she asked me.
"Nope, I don't even have a purse that I could lose."
Thereupon she laughed, thanked me again and wished me a Merry Christmas.

See, it's not difficult to make oneself and someone else happy with small things like this, and I can still feel my endorphins bubbling whenever I think about it.

Have a good night and a nice week!
