Just spent a small bundle of cash at a little independent mystery bookstore called "Booked for Murder". :D
First of all, there was only one person at the store. Not sure if she was the owner or an employee, but she greeted us as soon as we stepped in and helped us look for books the whole time. (We got there about a half hour before closing.) Helped that there weren't any other customers, but still--GREAT service. She asked if I was looking for something specific or just browsing, and I said "Something in between..." and explained the best I could that I was looking for something for my grandmother. She likes Clive Cussler thrillers and is very conservative.
This lady knew basically the whole inventory and had lots of suggestions. Plus she was funny. And they had a little Crosley radio in the corner--the old fashioned wooden steeple-shaped kind--playing swing music. Used paperbacks and hardcovers (buy one get one free for a lot of them) and murder mystery game sets.
Basically, Heaven. :3
And now I'm watching Poirot on PBS.
