"Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one. It got on at 42nd, and off at 59th, where, I assume it was going to Bloomingdales to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake--as almost all hats are.” - Kathleen Kelly, You've Got Mail
I am just about to make a big mistake. I've been fixated on the idea of purchasing a good straw fedora for the summer. Here it is almost August, and I'm getting a little desperate. I have a smallish head, so all of those trendy-looking hats at the mall or Target make me look like a little kid playing dress up. One size fits most! BALDERDASH.
I've been meaning to get up to the Sacred Feather on State Street, but I discovered they have a web site. (Sacred Feather people, you should really get someone to fix your site. You could shell out $25 to a college student and end up with something 10x more professional-looking than what you've got now. In a way, it's so bad it's cute, but...not efficient. Oh, animated GIFs.) I hadn't realized how expensive their stuff is...the "reasonably priced" hats must be the ones on clearance, once they've run out of a size or color. I'm not shelling out $75 for a hat that I will inevitably stop wearing because I think I look like a stooge.
So I'm making an even greater mistake and ordering online, now that I've measured my head and am armed with the certainty that I wear a size Small. Not Small/Medium. Just Small.
[This] is what I've settled on. Quick! Discourage me now or forever hold your peace!
In other news, I really need to finish that Marill plushie so I can show it off on the Geek Crafts community. I love those guys!

That's a lot of sentences starting (or nearly starting) with I. Granted, this is my blog. But maybe it's time to stop being self absorbed.
