I've had a little over a week since my last entry. Between now and then has been school, the band/choir trip, and more school. School is fine, except for a little overwhelming in the amount of work right now.

Now the band/choir trip was pretty good! I roomed with Arielle, Kayla, and Catelyn, all freshmen. It was nice to have a pretty quiet room, since I needed as much sleep as possible. I felt like I had been gone for two weeks when we came back from this excursion! The ride up was pretty uneventful. That first night, I got to explore the hotel a little bit, and it was really nice. We stayed in a Hilton. Friday was long, but really fun; it was the day of the performances. I liked getting the clinics; they were really helpful. The choir clinic was exactly what everyone had needed to hear, which made me very happy. The jazz band clinician said some things that I wouldn't have thought of, which was very helpful to us. Saturday was our day for sightseeing. It was fun, especially seeing the big room at Liberty Island's museum. How ironic it is that it was perfectly sunny weather on Friday when we all had to stay inside the whole day, then rainy and dark all day Saturday when we were sightseeing the whole time, and outside for a large part of the day! It was okay, though. Saturday night was the awards ceremony, in which all the groups competing went to a medieval fiest where there was live entertainment of a jousting tournament act-a competition between each section of the room by colors. Our (green) knight truly won, but through some other means, the yellow knight won.

For the awards, Choir, S&T, Femmes, and JAZZ BAND all got gold, and Har-Men-Ized and Band got silver! This is AWESOME! There was one school there, though, that beat everyone else in the choral groups (they didn't have a band). They were Seneca Valley High School in Harmony, PA. They did all serious, and seriously boring music, or repeats of what Apponequet has already done this year. Their men's choir had 55 guys in it! That's practically the size of our regular choir! (Seneca was the yellow night, and beat us out in that area as well-what a surprise!)

One of the things about the trip that really kept me together and functioning well was all of my friends! It was a great way to get closer to Kayla and Catelyn, but it wasn't just them, but everyone in general! :>D

Yesterday, I stayed home from school because I was sick. I didn't have my weekend to relax a little bit like I usually do, and I was given a ton of homework over the trip time, which didn't help my stress level at all. To that, add the effect of being on a tight schedule, and being uptight for the whole trip, and you make one exhausted person!

If someone had asked me before the trip how I was feeling, I probably would have said okay; but if someone had asked me right after the trip, I would have said exhausted beyond belief; and if someone asked me now, I'd say much better, less stressed, and happier. I guess sleep and relaxation cures all! :>)
