Holy crap! I am in NEW ZEALAND!! Even though I have now gone through the 13 hour flight and customs and such, it still doesn't seem real. Also, it is Friday. Thanksgiving was officially cancelled for me this year. I think it is a fair tradeoff though. Crappy airplane food and not too much sleep, but new continent, new adventures... Excitement. Today my mom and I wandered around Auckland, managed to break a hubcap, wait an hour for a bus that wasn't coming, lose the car, take the wrong ferry and I may be forming an ulcer from spending so much time with family in a country that drives on the other side of the road, but it was pretty amazing. Auckland reminds me a lot of San Francisco... lots of houses on hills, water, green, bustling, but everyone seems a lot nicer. It's pretty cool. We went to the Maritime Museum and some underwater experience thing - I saw penguins! And seahorses! No jellyfish, but I can deal. Overall, it has been a really long day and I am looking forward to crashing early and getting up tomorrow to start some more travels and excitement. SCUBA? Nature cruise? Not sure. Possibly. We shall see. I think I am going to try to update this fairly frequently, and when I don't have to pay for internet, there will even be pictures, I suppose! I'll be uploading everything to my Flickr account, but I can post links here too. In any case, happy Thanksgiving to all of you, I am thankful for friends, family, health, and the opportunity to do amazing new things. There, I guess it wasn't cancelled after all :)
