The thing I try to keep in mind all the time with Sirius, especially when I'm not quite sure how he'll react to something, is that, at the base of his personality, he is a dog. He's utterly loyal and protective of his people. He craves affection and reassurance. He wants to snuggle, even when the 12yo boy part of his personality doesn't want to admit it. And sometimes he acts without thinking, which might result in him being really sweet, or screwing up and doing something stupid. He's very instinctive, and not given to self-analysis.
Dumbledore's speech... Wtf can a lass say to that except well done! How many people can honestly write a Dumbledore worthy speech on blood supremacy and hate? It was phenomenally good and I was blown away. Well done!
Thank you! This was the hardest bit. Dumbledore always is. Writing a credible Dumbledore, especially Dumbledore in full flow, is a huge challenge. I'm surprised I managed it here, considering it was the middle of the night, and I'd already had two glasses of wine.
It is stupid that I enjoy the poor boy's jealously so much, even if he doesn't quite realize that is what it is.
I love throwing in little bits like this. Wee Sirius has no use for girls whatsoever. I'm not sure why I enjoy making him a misogynistic little shit, but I do. It's going to be fun when I finally bring him around to including Lily in "his people". But that's not going to happen for a long while yet. I guess the dynamic I have between them is another instance of tragic irony. He can't stand this girl, but we all know how devastated he will one day be over her death.
Remus and Sirius's dialogue was perfect; the bond between them rose significantly through just a few reassuring sentences and I could see with clarity why these boys (especially Sirius in this particular scene) fall so deeply in love with one another. They are beautiful together.
This is something I tend to see happening on the days after the full moon. Sirius's instinct is to take care of Remus, and at these times, Remus is naturally a little less guarded that usual. He's tired and he's vulnerable, which gives permission for Sirius to be vulnerable, too. It's a recipe for intimacy.
*sighs* Remus you don't know how you will live to regret so much. Heart-wrenching; I want so much for those words to always be true, for the war to never blight their lives.
Everything seems so simple when one is young. They have no idea how this war is going to complicate things and fill them with doubt. Fuck Voldemort for ruining everything. Imagine what their lives would have been like if he had never existed.

In many ways Sirius is more broken than Remus ever could be. I love his fragility but as you said he is an incredibly loyal dog. *happy sighs* I love him so much, even when he is being an arse.
I have done some of my best work under the influence of wine dear ;)

It really is so sad. I do try not to think past their years at school with ACOC but it is difficult. He will learn to care for her deeply but I'll enjoy his jealously and irritation while it comes heehe.

I love this so much. I cannot wait for future post-moon intimacy! It is something between them and an excellent way of building their relationship outside of the Marauders group. Do you imagine James would go to Remus too?
