Where on the internet does fandom live these days?

I'm trying to get back into writing fanfic (don't get too excited; it's pretty slow going), and I've been thinking about the best platforms on which to offer my stories. I know how fast the internet moves, and I want to keep up ( Read more... )

I post here and on AO3. I like the community here and I like the interface and organization of AO3. That's totally specific to BSG, though - I'm not sure where I would post HP fic today. (I do use Tumblr but not much at all for fic. I don't see how.)

ETA: Another benefit of AO3 is that you wouldn't have to make your own Epub or Mobi files. It does it automatically.

Also, for your reference is this handy tool which converts fics from various archives. I love it. It's why my Kindle is 99% fic.

Wow, the mobi formatting AO3 does is UGLY. No break between chapters, and it doesn't include some of the html formatting that shows up on the page. Besides that, it looks OK on my actual Kindle, but TERRIBLE on the Kindle app on my iPod (no margins wtf?). I hope this is something AO3 or whoever does the mobi-creating software will fix over time. Until then, I guess it's useful if not pretty.
