A letter to my troll

Nov 13, 2011 05:20

My troll came out of the woodwork on ff.net again. She was forced to identify herself as silvermistlady, since I turned off anonymous commenting, but the wording and tone of the comment made it clear that it was the same person who always posts this stuff. Today, we have this delightful offering:

Why your Sirius is always such a repulsive nelly bottom?he is a man not a
woman!

To which, my reply:

Dear Troll,

In a way, I am flattered that you take all this time out of your busy schedule to read my stories, even though you clearly dislike them. However, I am growing very bored with your misogynistic, gender-essentialist BS comments (if you don't know what gender-essentialism is, look it up; I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you), and your attempts to shame me into toeing the line of what you perceive to be "acceptable" gender roles. I suggest that, rather than waste one more minute of your life reading stories that people work hard on and trying to make them feel bad about their writing, you consider volunteering with some sort of charitable organization. Think of all the good you could be doing in the world. To help you resist temptation, I am hereby blocking you from commenting on any of my stories. Have a pleasant life.

Pica
