Well, as many of you know, the weather outside is very cold, rainy, and icy. Sally and I were driving home tonight from Dad's in our respective cars. I was truly amazed by the vast amount of emergency vehicles out on the highway, and I avoided them by taking another on-ramp. Well, I was going towards 635 on 30 and I saw more flashing lights before me, so I slowed down from 40mph to about 15-20mph. I get right past the ambulance sitting there and woosh, the back end of my car starts going out from behind me, slowly but surely. And oddly enough, it was like I was in a suspended state. I felt somewhat ethereal and the only thought that went through my mind was, "yep. I'm spinning out...I wonder if I'll stop before I hit the guard rail..." I must have hit a dry patch after a few seconds cause I'd been breaking and turning into the spin and suddenly it felt like I'd hit the back end of the car against something, but there was nothing around me.
According to Sally, who was right behind me, she was headed straight for me in an identical spin, but when about a foot away from my car, did a complete 180 degrees around it, narrowly avoiding me AND the cop car that was parked about 15 ft. away from me, where she rested comfortably in between cars.
Suffice it to say, I didn't get above 40mph the rest of the way home.
And then, when I'd finally exited onto Winslow to get home, my windshield wipers froze up, so I had to drive the remaining couple of miles with and iced-over windshield, hoping that I wouldn't hit any of the cars parked on either side of the streets.
All in all, a very amusing and excitement-filled experience.
rock on.
I should really look into a new automobile.
