shed!

Matt went away to visit his youngest brother at university last weekend, so I decided to be sneaky and get the new shed sorted out while he was gone. Mum and her husband volunteered to take charge of the project, since they've successfully made six impressive sheds over the years, and I was happy to let them do it. In the end, they did most of the work. Having no idea what to do, I mostly contented myself with propping things up and carrying the various bits of wall and roof from one end of the allotment to the other. My chicken-keeping friend turned up after a bit and banged lots of nails in around the edges.

Incredibly (to someone as given to procrastination as me) the job was indeed finished in one weekend. If it had been left to me and Matt to sort out on our own then we probably would've taken several more months to get around to even thinking about maybe starting to do something about possibly getting going with making it.

So, after only six short years on the allotment, we finally have a decent shed!

It's not quite finished, though. We have to paint it, which I've decided will be Matt's job. We have to put some vinyl or lino on the floor, if any turns up on freecycle. And the door needs a handle and a padlock. Currently we're using Twig Security:

And its interior:

I bought a couple of sets of shelves for the new shed, so that we could be more organised with all our plant pots and rubbish. It took me almost as long to make those *&*%%( shelves as it took mum and Roy to get the roof on, fit the window and door, and attach all the exterior trimmings. Bah. Sometimes, I am not handy.

I also attached many many little hooks to the walls, so that vital equipment could be easily found. I especially like this bit, because the trowels just look so tidy! (But I don't know why we have so many of them...)

So, another depressing project finally taken care of. All we have to do now is dismantle the old shed and set it on fire. Fun!
