Just a reflection of a new cosplayer

I guess I just had to write this.

I had lots of fun at Central Park last Sunday. Despite the destroyed GUITARFREAKS machine and the heat, I still had fun.

I met quite a lot of new friends from the event, mostly cosplayers adding me/I added on Facebook after the event. Then, we chatted, shared our interests, and found out that we were actually not that different.

Chime-san, for example. She dressed up as Moe Moe Mio Kyun (okay you know which costume I'm talking about) from K-ON! that day. All that I knew during that event was that this girl was definitely into K-ON!. Turns out that she also likes yuri (very much), and NND singers as well. She's also an art student in the same university as I am, although we're in different campuses, and she lives in the region where I used to live when I was little. FFFUUU COMRADES. ALSO LOL I'M SORRY CHIME-SAN FOR MENTIONING YOU EVERYWHERE.

Another awesome person I met was Rion-san, who dressed up as the original KAITO. He is much older than I am, and is very dedicated to cosplay. I admired his KAITO cosplay, and found out that he was a really nice person. What I found out later which made me admire him even more was that he has also crossplayed as girls (mostly in lolita costumes) before. I mean, I'm sure it takes a lot of courage for guys to crossplay, given the mindset of people here... =A= His crossplays are also really well done.

As for myself, I was actually surprised to have people coming to me. All this time, I thought I was just another newbie who didn't really "belong" in the cosplayer category (lol you know this is only my second time cosplaying and others are like WOAH PRO). Yet after the event I met so many people, some mentioned that they really liked my cosplay. I couldn't help but feel surprised and flattered sjkdhsak /////

Other than other photographers... There was this group of old people who came to my friends and I when we were walking from the restroom; they asked us if they could take a picture with us. Then they told us that "opa" (the grandpa in the group) was having his birthday that day. I was so happy hearing that, and was glad that we could make him happy on his birthday. I also met children, first looking embarrassed and asking their parents, then their parents asked me if I could take a picture with them. Just seeing smiles on their faces made me feel really happy.

I know that my cosplay is far from perfect, but that experience I had a few days ago made me want to strive for improvement. If I can see more people smile that way, then I'll try my best...

Some pictures:

L to R: Me (Hatsune Miku), Rion (KAITO)
Rion-san so awesome *o*

LOL this was actually candid.
Also notice that the lighting inside is so horrible.
yay for tangled wig.

L to R: Me (Miku H.), Clarisha (JBF!Luka M.), Danes (SPICE!Len K.)
fuck yeah photo retouch. Also that was.. uh. Candid.
I was asking whether she was wearing a stocking or not.

The uber famous Luka doll.
We have like 3249234 pictures of her.

Other pictures are on Facebook but alas, I disabled "view tagged photos of me". They're all candid anyways. We didn't really do a photoshoot session or anything.

cosplay, tl;dr
