For those who don't know what the hell The Room is, it's a really terrible melodrama set in San Francisco. Seriously, it's bad. You can tell that the director (who also produced, wrote and starred in the feature) intended it to be this deep, meaningful movie about love and betrayal, but it completely misses the mark. It's even been riffed on by MST3k alumni Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett, which further illustrates the potential for hilarity here.
Really, I feel for The Room the way the unconventional conventioneers must've felt for Rocky Horror back in 1975. Even The Room is enjoying a successful run in midnight screenings across the US and in the UK. You can see some before 'n after reactions to one such screening here featuring comedians Bex Schwartz and Jake Fogelnest.
I highly recommend this movie if you enjoyed the aforementioned MST3k, incomprehensible European accents, chubby bloated sexy blond girls in red dresses, men in tuxedos playing football and other bizarre treats. For best results, watch in a big group with copious amounts of alcohol nearby. It'll make the experience that much sweeter.
